Safety rules for motion programs
Confirm before every motion
Before any program moves a device, the assistant describes the motion in plain words: which device and axis, the direction, distance and speed, and how many times it repeats. Nothing runs until you confirm.
Prepare the space
Make sure the motion path is clear of people, cables and objects, and that the device stands on a stable surface. Cameras and lenses mounted on a device move with it; check that nothing can hit the rig at either end of the travel.
Limits cannot be bypassed
Speed, acceleration and travel limits are enforced by the SDK and by the device firmware. A program or an assistant cannot exceed them. If you see a limit error, the program asked for more than the device allows; lower the speed or distance.
Start slow
Run a new program at a moderate speed and for a short time first. Adjust step by step once you have seen it move the way you expect. Some devices do not start below a minimum speed.
How to stop
- Press Ctrl+C in the terminal where the program runs.
- Press the stop button on the device.
Both always work. Do not leave a motion program running unattended.
Stop before disconnecting
Disconnecting does not stop moving equipment. Programs call device.move.stop() in a finally
block, before the connection closes, so the equipment stops even when the program fails.
